The youth club attendees are aged from 12 to 17 with differing interests, abilities and confidence levels.
When preparing for the workshop, we wanted to make sure that all of them felt able to take part in the project if they chose.

We decided to offer a range of familiar and less familiar materials; these will be kept consistent across the three workshops:
Writing and Drawing
- Graphite pencils and erasers
- Coloured pencils
- Coloured wax crayons
- Oil pastel crayons
- Felt tip pens
- Chalk pens
- A4 white cartridge paper
- A4 black sugar paper
- 500x750mm newsprint offcuts

Collage and mixed media
- Origami papers in several colours
- Coloured papers and cardstock in different sizes, weights and patterns
- Sellotape and scissors
- Glue sticks
- Coloured masking tapes
- a “word bank” of printed adjectives and nouns
we used the free dyslexia-friendly typeface Open Dyslexic

Digital media
- iPads and iPhones
- Digital cameras
- Cardboard ‘frames’ to help with view-finding and composition
- Dictaphone
- Stickers for kids who didn’t want to be photographed
- Stickers for naming work and confirming permission to use and share as part of the project
